Live From The Union County Iowa Caucus: Part One

6:38 pm: People are just checking in at the Supertel conference center in Creston, Iowa. Though the check-in time officially began at 6:30 pm, I arrived at 6:25 to already find a line at the door. All five Creston precincts are caucusing in the conference center. People find a circle of tables labeled with their precinct number. People are surrounding their individual table--and also lining up against the back wall. There will be a big turnout tonight. I am caucusing with precinct four.

Behind me are two foreign exchange students from Germany observing the process. At the Ron Paul table out front are two young people from Kansas City and_Kentucky. The table out front also features volunteers, yard signs, brochures and other materials from the various candidates.

More live blogging as the evening moves on.
