38 degrees and mostly sunny

Campaign staffers have been carefully monitoring the weather forecasts for the past week, hoping that the unseasonably warm winter we have been experiencing here in Iowa would continue through caucus night.  Today's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 38 degrees.  The fierce winds we've had for the past 48 hours haven't entirely died down, but with a predicted caucus-time temperature of 30 degrees here in Ames, anyone who's interested in being at a caucus won't have any problems making it there safely.

Republican turnout will probably be high; Democratic turnout will be low--which is typical of any year with an incumbent candidate.  Jeff's expecting lengthy platform discussions at his caucus, so I don't expect to see him home until well after 9:00 p.m.  I anticipate that our caucus will wrap up around 8:30.
