Tea Party Convention this weekend!

Since ticket prices are Keep-Out-The-Rabble steep--$549 for the convention, plus an additional $349 to see Sarah Palin's keynote speech tonight--you regular folks will have to catch it on the teevee. But never fear, Princess Sparkle Pony has all you need to know. First, Sarah Palin Speech Bingo cards are available for download...I think there could be a drinking game buried in there too, so have at it, friends!

And second, for your shopping pleasure, a few recommendations from the Tea Party gift emporia. I disagree with Peteykins; I do like the earrings (I am a serious tea fan!). I agree that the Tea Party coffee is stupid. I'm guessing it's not Fair Trade, either.

Looks like economic recovery to me!

Reason for hope: A chart that depicts the rate of job loss over the past two years (the last Bush year and the first Obama year).

What's on the John Edwards sex tape:

Which is now in the possession of the FBI. Maybe it will hit the internet someday; maybe it won't.

But over breakfast, we decided that we already know what it contains. Here's a transcript:

Rielle: Balance my chakras, baby.
John: Don't touch my hair.

The end.

"The Dim. Led By The Malicious."

Today's Internet is on fire with a debate over how the political ruling class views the American people. Faced with electoral and legislative losses, some liberals, who were flush with the joy of victory just over a year ago, have gone back to an ol' refrain: we lose because the American people are stupid.

Charles Krauthammer puts it this way:
The dim, led by the malicious, vote incorrectly.
Gerard Alexander asks: why are liberals so condescending?

As if on cue, Jacob Weisberg at Slate blames the current economic and "political" crisis (re: "we can't get our crap passed") on the "childish, ignorant American people."

Tara and I are often asked how we make our marriage work. We get along--and have many friends who have diverse political views--because we never treat people with different views as dimwits. It's a lesson some in the political class have yet to learn.
