Downed power lines near Gravity.

Well, yeah.

It's a late start for tornado season in Iowa.

Trader Joe's is coming to West Des Moines!

And the Des Moines Register tells us down-home Midwesterners, in perfect "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" style:
It's known for employees who wear Hawaiian-themed shirts and imported products.
I'll be there when the store opens, looking for the lady behind the deli counter with a leaf of arugula tucked behind her ear.

Sex and the City

Okay, I will cop to having seen the first movie. I don't remember any of it, other than the naked guy. I can picture him quite clearly (if you saw the film, you can too!)...but I don't even remember his name...Gilles? The movie was horrid, and I expected that SATC2 would be similarly terrible. Judging from the reviews, it is much, much worse.

Roger Ebert's review is, as always, brilliant.

And you can follow up with Andrew O'Hehir's review in Salon, which includes this gem:
It would have been more merciful for writer-director Michael Patrick King to have rented Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda out to the "Saw" franchise, or to Rob Zombie, so we could watch them get shot in the head or skinned alive by Arkansas rednecks.
Wasn't that more fun than a night out?
